ROTARY CONFERENCE

DELEGATES ENTERTAINED INFORMAL RECEPTION Delegates to the 14th annual conference of the Rotary Clubs of New Zealand, which is being held in Auckland, and their wives, attended an informal reception last night at the Auckland University College. The stage of the assembly hall, in which the function took place, was hung with Hags of the Empire and emblems of Rotary, while along the front were banked pots of llowering primulas, bamboo foliage and grasses. Supper was served in the women's common-room, where brilliant dahlias, asters and zinnias were arranged on the tables. On arrival the guests were received by the president of the Auckland Club; Mr. J. P. O'Connor, and by Mrs. O'Connor, who wore a frock of black crepe suede relieved with red. Mrs. P. S. Foster, of Christchurch, wife of the district governor, wore a frock of silver grey knife-pleated georgette. The ladies' committee comprised:— Lady Mackenzie, who wore a frock of deep mulberry georgette; Mrs. D. Henry, in black georgette; Mrs. G. Lawrence Taylor, black crepe faille; Mrs. A. S. Bailey, black Chantilly lace; Mrs. W. C. MacKay, black marocain; Mrs. Stanley Reid, pastel pink Mechlin lace; Mrs. G. J. Park, floral liinon; Mrs. Percy Harrison, black chiflon; Mrs. S. J.' Harbutt, petunia Chantilly lace"; Miss V. Clark, ficelle angelskin lace; and Miss M. Rhodes, black lace. The musical programme presented comprised an opening chorus by the Auckland Rotarians; quartet numbers by Mr. J. F. Ewen, Mr. H. Schmidt, Mr. W. Manning and Mr. G. M. Smith; a humorous sketch by Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bailey; and songs by Mr.' G. M. Smith. . . On arrival each lady visitor was presented with a shoulder spray of flowers to which was attached an attractive card bearing her name and a printed welcome from the Auckland "Rotary Anns."
