MEMORIAL AT BOULOGNE HUGE STATUE OF BRITANNIA [from our own correspondent] LONDON, Jan. 25 The trident of Britannia for the tnammoth statue which is to be erected at the entrance to the harbour of Bou-logne-sur-Mer to commemorate the landing of the British Expeditionary Force in France early in August, 191-1, has just been cast in bronze. The sculptor of the memorial is a Boulogne man, 31. Stenne, and he is undertaking the responsibility of casting his statue himself. Some idea of the magnitude of his task may be gathered from the fact that the original design was made in plaster and erected in the garcen of his house. It stood as high as hi:; roof, and was the object of admiration and curiosity to all bis neighbours. The head alone is as high as the sculptor. The object in making the memorial of such proportions is that when it is erected on the jetty it will, on a clear day, be visible for many miles out at sea. The height of the statue itself is about 30ft., but the base, composed of stones. some of which have been given by British Dominions and colonies, will raise it to a total height of 80ft. If the statue is ready in time it ; s hoped to have an inauguration cerebe attended by the President some time in the late
