STATE OF BOAT HARBOUR
ST. MARY'S BAY FACILITIES OBJECTIVE OF BOARD The subject of the improvement of the boat harbour at St. Mary's Bay was mentioned by several speakers at the smoke concert held in the Victoria Cruising Club's rooms last night, when the prizes won at the Auckland Anniversary Regatta were presented. Mr. E. Griffiths, vice-chairman of the regatta committee, when proposing the toast of the Auckland Harbour Board, referred to the difficulties yachtsmen had experienced, and said he thought that if the members of the board camo along and inspected St. Mary's boat harbour at low water they would do a little more for yachtsmen than they had done in the past. "The Harbour Board knows the condition of St. Mary's Bay, and has discussed it in every way," said the superintendent, Mr. I). Holderness, in replying to the toast. "But the time has not arrived when we. can do something about it." Tho chairman of the Harbour Board, Mr. C. G. Macindoe, who presented the prizes, also referred to the boat harbour. He said he was not going to make any promises, but, when the opportunity offered, the board hoped to make it one of the finest boat harbours in the world. No efforts would be spared to reach that objective.
