AUCKLAND TEAM DEPARTS The Auckland athletic team, one of the strongest yet to represent the province, and which is to participate in the New Zealand championship meeting to be held at Dunedin. on Friday and. Saturday, left for the south yesterday afternoon. The Auckland contingent comprises R. S. Cameron, walks, F. A. Finlayson. hurdles, C. P. Clegg, javelin, and M. C. Baker and W. S. Bainbridge, sprints and quarter-mile. The party will.be joined at Frankton Junction by Miss I. Campbell, ladies' sprints, and P. G. Lindsay, half and one mile runs. A. D. Benham, hurdles, will join the team at Christchurch and W. Roberta, 100 yds sprint, at Wellington. Three members of the chosen team were unable to make the trip, theso being H. K. Brainsby, Empire Games representative, present holder of trie long jump and hop, step and jump titles. P. J. Hackett. high jump championand H. D. Ball, third last year in the 440 yds hurdles final. LADIES* SCRATCH MEETING Following are the events for the next ladies' scratch meeting, which will take place next Saturday at the Elleralie Domain, commencing at 2 p.m.:—7syds, 150 yds, broad jump, throwing the javelin, throwing the discus, putting the shot, medley relay.
