SERIES OF CHARGES GOODS AND JEWELLERY CHASE BY POLICE CAR Seven charges involving breaking and entering, theft, and breaches of the motor regulations were brought against Leslie Richmond Henderson, a blacksmith, aged 30, who appeared before Mr. Wyverri Wilson, S.M., in the Police -Court yesterday. Accused pleaded guilty in each case. The charges were: —Breaking and entering a house at Green Bay Oh November 13 and stealing goods valued at £ll, the property of the owner of the house, Lilian Elizabeth Gribble; stealing, at Horsham Downs, Hamilton, on September 9, a watch valued at £1 15s, the property of- Robert Wade; stealing, at Auckland on September 17, a suitcase and leather grip, of a total value of £1 10s, the property of Katlierine Houghton WGoldridge; stealing from a house at Green Bay, on November 13, a gold wristlet watch and a gold bar brooch of a total value of £6 ss, the property of the owner of the house, Iris Reeves; stealing, on. February 15, a hat valued at £1 Is, the property of Marino Gojack; driving at a dangerous speed at Auckland on October 26; and driving without a licence at Auckland ou October 26. Senior-Detective Hall called as witnesses the owners of certain of the property who . outlined the circumstanced in which they had discovered their losses. Accused, he said, was at present serving a two-year sentence for break- ■* ing and entering at Christchurch. In regard to the motoring offences, Sepior-Detective Hall said that accused, at about 11.25 p.m. on October 26, had driven a motor-car past a police car - in Arftey Road, Remuera, at a high speed. The police car pursued him, but when it had reached a speed of 50 miles an hour the police car,was losing on Henderson. However, in Renniers Road, the police car was accelerated slightly more and accused was overtaken and stopped. When he was accosted, accused said he was taking a friend to catch a bus at Newmarket. On the two charges, of breaking and entering, and of theft, at Green Bay, accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. In each of the other three theft cases he was sentenced to one month's . imprisonment. He was . fined £l, in default seven days' imprisonment,; on the charges involving breaches of the motor regulations.
