MAYOR ISLAND CATCH [MY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] TAURANCA, Saturday Fishing from the launch Virginia off Mayor Island yesterday, Mr. Sprigg "Williams, of Wellington, landed a splendid black marlin weighing 7001b. A party, comprising Messrs. J. E. Cummings, D. N. Hay, J. H. Hawes, of Mataniata, A. G. Story, of Thames, returned in the launch Dauntless last night from the deep-sea grounds with a catch of 14 big game fish for six days' fishing. The weights of the fish ranged up to 3201b., the largest being a swordfish caught by Mr. Hay. The party had some thrilling sport, several of the fish fighting for an hour and a quarter.
