MAN'S EXTENSIVE INJURIES STEPPED OFF FOOTPATH Fractures of both legs, severe hoad injuries and shock, were suffered by Mr. MacKenzie, of 55 Franklin Road, Ponsonby, when he was knocked down by a taxicab in College Hill, shortly before 11 .o'clock last night. The cab, driven by Mr. T. W. Matravers, had just turned out of New Street, and was travelling down College Hill when the accident occurred. Mr. MacKenzie stepped off the pavement, being struck by the left-hand side of the car. The injured man was taken in a St. John ambulance to the Auckland Hospital. His condition was reported to bo very serious at an early hour this ingSEVERAL PERSONS HURT THREE SERIOUS CASES A number of accidents in which motorists were involved occurred during the ■week-end. About eight o'clock on Saturday night Mr. Albert Sdjnuel Robinson, aged 70, of 44 Portland Road, llemuera, was knocked down by a motor-car and suffered concussion. The accident happened near the intersection of Pott land Road and Remuera Road. Mr. Robinson was taken to the Auckland Hospital. His condition last night was reported to be serious. A man who was struck by a car at the corner of Porter's Avenue and Eden Terrace about eight o'clock on Saturday night, Mr. Edward Lawrence, aged 50, suffered a fracture of the leg and lacerations. Ho was taken by a St. John ambulance to tho Auckland Hospital, and his condition last night was reported to be serious. A child aged five years, Francis Hogg, whose parents reside at 174 Great North Road, was struck by a motor-cyclo about one o'clock on Saturday afternoon at the corner of Great North Road and Beaconsfield Street. Sho suffered a compound fracture of the left leg and shock. Tho child was admitted to the Auckland Hospital. Her condition last night was stated to be fairly serious.
