BAINS IN THE SOUTH TEMPERATURES WARM The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, were as follows: —A slight anti-cyclone has been crossing the North Island to-dav, while an extensive and complex depression is advancing over the Tasman Sea. The forecast is for moderate north-easterly to northerly winds, gradually freshening. Seas in New Zealand waters slight to moderate, but rising south of Cape Egmont and in Cook and Foveaux Straits areas. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong northerly winds, with moderate to rather rough seas. The weather is likely to bo unsettled in western districts from Taranaki southward, with scattered rain, elsewhere fair at first, but cloud increasing generally and rain developing in most districts. Temperatures warm. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST HUMID, WITH RAIN AT TIMES The Government meteorologist issued to the Hkrat.d last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Moderate to strong northerly winds. The weather is likely to be dttil, warm and humid, with rain at times. Seas moderate. WEEK-END WEATHER Auckland. —The weather was very changeable and unsettled during the week-end and a light to moderate breeze varied between north and northeast. Light showers were experienced during Saturday morning and in the evening, but early yesterday morning torrential rain fell at intervals for about three hours. Afterwards fine, sunny weather prevailed. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 72 degrees. The barometer rose .15in. during the 48 hours. Barometer, midnight, steady . . 30.00 in. The afternoon was fine, with considerable sunshine. Yesterday was fine and sunny, with a light north-easterly breeze. The barometer was steady at about 30.00 in. Dunedin.—Saturday was fine, with sunshine in the morning, but overcast conditions in the afternoon. A moderate north-easterly wind prevailed. The maximum temperature was 65 degrees. There was bright sunshine, with, passing cloud and a light north-easterly breeze, yesterday. Later the sky became overcast. The maximum temperature was 68 degrees. The barometer was falling.
