Feb. 21 f There will be no inflation for Canada %'■ Mr. Charles Dunning, Minister of FinV ance, told the House of Commons when opposing the Commonwealth Federation ~ Party's proposal to grunt pensions to all Canadians at the age of 60 through the issue of currency estimated by the if Minister to cost 500,000,000 dollars annually. " No country ever grew rich I' through inflation," he said. " Canada is making progress regarding the control ■ of public credit but must proceed care- • fully along the lines laid down already in Parliament." * „ Mr. R. B. Bennett, Conservative leader, opposed the pensions on the ground that the plan was non-contri-butory and really intended to force all workers to retire at 60 which would militato against character-building. Social Credit members supported tho t • proposal, which was eventually ruled »ut of order.
