CRICKET TOUR
AUSTRALIAN TEAM • NATAL MATCH COMMENCED VISITING SIDE MAKES 256 By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright (Received February 23. 5.5 p.m.). DURBAN,- Feb. 22 The cricket match between the Australian test team and Natal was commenced to-day. The weather was overcast and muggy, and the wicket was fast. Batting first, the Australians compiled 256, to which Natal replied with 38 for the loss of one wicket. Fingleton replaced McCormick in the Australian team, the fast bowler being slightly indisposed. Fleetwood-Smith was twelfth man. Richardson, who made 74, was somewhat lucky on more than one occasion, and was not at all confident in facing Murray, a slow break bowler. Murray troubled the best of the Australian batsmen, his bowling being a feature of the innings. H. Wade and Siedle opened confidently for Natal, collecting the first 15 runs in 10 minutes. When apparently set, Siedle was yorked by Sievers. An appeal against the light at 5.15 p.m. was upheld. Details are as follows: — AUSTRALIA —First Innings Richardson, b Anderson . . 74 McCabe, cW.
