MR. SEMPLE IN TAR^NAKt FLIGHT OVER AERODROME [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday The first visit to Taranaki of a member of the Labour Cabinet was made by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple, in the week-end, tho Minister paying a hurried visit to inspect flood damage in the Egmont County. Mr. Semple was accorded an unusually enthusiastic civic reception at Elthani on arrival last night, and yesterday spent a full day viewing wrecked bridges and wash-outs around Opunake, accompanied by Mr. C. 0.. Wilkinson, member for Egmont, departmental officials and local body members.A visit was paid in the afternoon to the New Plymouth airport, where lie was accorded a reception by the Mayor, Mr. E. 11. C. Gilmour. Later Mr. Semple was taken in an aeroplane by the instructor, Mr. Lan Keith, to view the land it is proposed to include in the aerodrome area.

The members of the party were guests at Dawson Falls hostel, Mount Fgmont, for tea and returned to Eithara for the night Mr. Semple will receive local body deputations at Eltliam to-morrow morn-', ing, at Hawera and Waverley in the afternoon, and at Wanganui in . the evening.
