MIDGET AEROPLANE

HOME-MADE MACHINE Three young men hare built in a backyard in Australia a small aeroplane which they call "the Flying Wog." They are Messrs. Harold and Henry Rudd, of Box Hill, and Horace Roberts, of Melbourne, and they claim that the machine is superior to the "Flying Flea," which is becoming popular in England.

Their machine measures lift. 6in. from propeller to tail, and the front and rear wings are 19ft. 6in. and lift. 6in. in width respectively. It is fitted with a 48 horse-power Blackburn Thrush engine, and is capable of flying at 75 miles an hour. It is claimed that its landing speed is only 18 miles an hour, and that it can take off in 50 yards. The aeroplane underwent a successful test flight the other day.

After further tests Mr. Harold Rudd intends to fly the machine to Sydney, and his brother will fly it back to Melbourne. Mr. Roberts will then attempt to flight to Adelaide.
