This' afternoon tho old art gallery was offered for sale at auction. The bidding started at £7OOO, went to £BOOO, £BSOO and then by hundreds to £B9OO, after which two £SO bids wore taken, and tho building- and land were sole 1 , for £9OOO, three or four minutes after the bidding had commenced. Tho name of the purchaser was not disclosed.
