TEPID MINERAL BATHS
NEW PLYMOUTH SCHEME HIGH lODINE CONTENT Tepid mineral baths are to be established in New Plymouth as the result of investigation of water from the springs on the site of an old oil - well _ on the Bonithon Estate, South Road, states the Taranaki Herald. The clear-' ing'of the fe area has been commenced and the building of a bath house decided upon. ♦ A feature of the mineral water is the particularly large proportion of iodine content, which- is not usual in New Zealand. An analysis shows that the water is muriated saline water. This differs from sea water mainly in containing very much more calcinm bicarbonate and practically :no sul« phates. The building will provide a blue swimming bath, ten mineral baths, four herbal vapour cabinets,, dry heat baths, sponging and massaging tables and electric rays on the ground floor. The first floor will -be furnished with suVi baths and accommodation for 30 convalescents, with all up-to-date conveniences.
