RUSSELL CHURCH

Sir, —There is a growing consensus of public opinion that this church should be preserved as an historical monument, and the Church authorities would do well to pause before proceeding with their plan. They should consider some other means of celebrating the centenary of this church tvliich will not eventually involve its demolition. Would it not be more appropriate, and probably more in keeping with the wishes of the people of New Zealand, to leave this historic church alone, beyond carrying out such repairs as may bo necessary to ensure its preservation for many years? Veritas.
