VISIT TO TANEATUA INTEREST IN SURF CONTESTS [HY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHAKATANE, Monday The Governor-General, Viscount Galway, accompanied by Viscountess Galway and Lieutenant Sir Stqndish Roche, 11. N., A.D.C., arrived at Taneatua by special train from Tauranga 611 Saturday on an unofficial visit to the district. Tho Vice-Regal party was met by Mr. R. Dickenson, of the Department of Internal Affairs. The following day Their Excellencies riffited Oliope Beach to watch (the Auckland provincial surf life-saving championships. They took a keen interest in the contests. Later they returned to their train at Taneatua. The Vice-Regal party also spent some time fishing the Waiinana River, and were successful in landing five fish on the dry fly. Viscount Galway took three of the trout, the largest weighing 31b.
