STOCK ON HIGHWAY
PAPATOETOE FARMER FINED \ " Stock are a nuisance on the roads and are not wanted on the main road." said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Otahuhu Magistrate's Court yesterday, when a Papatootoe farmer, George E. Morley, was charged with driving a mob of cattle over a road, prohibited under the Papatoetoe Tftjvn Board's by-laws. He pleaded guilty. Sergeant J. Qahill said defendant had been found dnVing 17 head of stock on the Great South Koad early in the morning. A milk vendor's van had run into the mob and killed a calf. The vehiclo had been damaged extensively. Defendant said his usual drover had been laid up, and he had removed the cattle to another small paddock about half a mile along the main road. Mr. Hunt said ho would take into consideration the defendant's loss and limit the fine to 10s and 10s costs.
