OBITUARY
MR. GEORGE HUNT r The death has occurred in his 82nd year of Mr. George Hunt, a well-known and highly respected Deronport resident. Born in Bristol in 1854, Mr. Hunt went to London in 1876 and joined the staff of the New Zealand Shipping Company, being connected with the London office for eight years. Coming to New Zealand in the ship Doric in 1884, he joined the Christchurch office staff of the company, later transferring to Wellington and Auckland, where be held the position of head accountant. Mr. Hunt retired from business in 1915. For many years he had been a keen worker for the Holy Trinity Church, Devonport. His wife died in 19&1. Ha is survived by a son, Mr. L. G. R. Hunt, of Whangarei. MR, JOSEPH BIRD The death occurred recently of Mr* Joseph Bird, of Mount Eden, the age of 77. Mr. Bird was born in Syria and went to Australia as a youth. Coming to New Zealand 42 years ago he ongaged in business in Queen Street and then went to Panmure, where be farmed for 15 years. Of recent years lie had lived in retirement at his hone in Mount Eden. He is survived by his wife, three sons and three daughters. ✓ MRS. JAMES REID The death occurred at Northcote yes* terdav morning of Mrs. Amy Kate Re 1 1"! wife of Mr. James Keid, boatbuilder. Mrs. Reid, who had resided at Northcote for 41 years, where she was a wellknown community worker, was born as Auckland, being the daughter of ilr. John Cramond. From 1U24 to 192b she took part with other members of tie family in the cruise of the islands or the South Pacific in the yacht vision, which was built by Mr. Reid at Nortncote. Mrs. Keid is survived by her husband, one son, and five daughters. There are eight grandchildren. MRS. W. CORNS [FROM OUR OWN' correspondent] WHANGAREI, MondW The death has occurred at her home, Mill Road, Whangarei. of MrsCorns, one of the oldest settlers or Whangarei, aged 94. Born in England, Mrs. Corns came to New Zealand wne a young girl and settled with n parents in -Auckland. She married Ai• W.
