VALUABLE STEEPLECHASE EVENT AT ONKAPARIMGA Few clubs in Australia racinjx on one day in the j'oar can disclose such an amazing financial record as tit© Onkaparinga body. So successful was the last Easter Monday meeting chat the balance-sheet was swelled to more than £IB,OOO. One of the main sc urces of revenue was the receipts from tofcalisator and bookmakers' turnover tax, which brought in £4433—the whole of the receipts being £11,621. Elaborate preparations are being made for the Centenary Great Eastern Steeplechase this year, which will carry a stake worth £3250, besides trophies for the winner, trainer and jockey. Necessary alterations have been made to the course to cope with the record crowd expected. With the bare exception of the fallen tree, which will net be r&moved for sentimental reasons, the whole of the course has been brushed, and it will still -be the most spsctacsular steepleohase in Australia.

TE AROHA JOCKEY CLUB CLOSING OF NOMINATIONS The sura of £3650 and two cups valued at £SO each will be given in stakes at the Te Aroha Jockoy Club's meeting, to be held on February 29 and March 2.
