FALSE PRETENCES CHARGE Charges of obtaining £2O by false pretences from Joseph Balich were admitted in tho Police Court yesterday by George Donaldson (Mr. Schramm). Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., was on the 13onch. Senior-Detective Hall said accused obtained various sums of money from complainant by falsely representing that he owned a property in Hamilton, which had been sold for £BOO. Accused had spent tho money on drink and taxis. Accused whs ordered to be prohibited, the magistrate admitting him to probation for a year, and ordering restitution to be made. An application for the suppression of his name was refused. Charged with obtaining £4 os from George Bradbury by falso pretences, Robert Thomas Graves was convicted und ordered to appear for sentence in nine months.
