CHEERFUL GIVERS

SYMPATHY FOR CRIPPLES THREE LITTLE GIRLS HELP Among the gratifying responiies that have been received to the reeen; appeal for an endowment fund for the Crippled Children's Home perhaps none has been more touching than the letter uhat has come from three little girls living in the country. The terms of their letter, which has been written by the youngest of the three sisters, show that they "have already learned the joy of selfsacrifice for a worthy' end und the secret of cheerful giving. The writer of the letter, :in onclosiing a contribution of 2s 6d, explains that this comes from money that the sisters have earned by sweeping tho school they attend. "At tho end of the year," says the writer, "we get a trip :o Auckland and a nice little surprise, in the way of a sum of money to sjiend. As we* are always well and happy, and as wo really worked for our mcney, wo decided to send' some of it to your fund and some to the children's home, instead of spending it all. We feel qui;e happy about it, it being our very own money. We are only sorry it is thirty pennies instead of a" thousand, and wo send our warm love and happy wishes to the little cripples of New Zealand." A special letter of thanks and acknowlodgment, couched in terms which it is hoped the children will fully appreciate, has been sent by the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, to the generous little givers.
