DAIRY MARKETING
CABINET AND BOARD "THE SAME OBJECTIVE" NO WIDE DIFFERENCES STATEMENT BY MR. SAVAGE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON, Tuesday "There is no wide gap between the opinions oj the Dairy Board and those of tho Government in regard to the marketing of dairy products in New Zealand and overseas," said the Prime Minister, Mr. M. J. Savage, to-night at the conclusion of a Cabinet meeting. "Indeed both the Government and tho board have the same objective in view and that is simply to secure the best possible results for the producers and the country as a whole." The Prime Minister explained that tho members of the board and the Ministers had held a conference in the morning, when there was a general discussion over the whole question of marketing, but no decisions were reached. "I have promised to invite several representatives of the board to meet some members of the Government for the purpose of attacking details of a marketing scheme," said Mr. Savage. "It is merely a question of arriving at a common policy." Asked whether there was any conflict of opinion or outstanding difficulty about the Government's projected policy of guaranteed prices and tho local marketing of dairy produce the Prime Minister said he could see no difficulty in the way. "We have promised to provide a guaranteed economic price for the farmers' output and also to make provision for selling the surplus overseas," Mr. Savage added. "I do not see that there is any conflict in that. It is really a question of devising a practical scheme and obtaining the best possible machinery for putting it into effect."
