AKAROA PIONEER

To revisit one's birthplace nt the ago of 94 is an unusual experience. Such, however, was that of Mrs. G. Breitniever, of Little River, when, with hextwo sons and daughter, she motored to Akaroa. Mrs. Breitmeyer was entertained by several old friends and had enjoyable talks about very early days of Akaroa, especially with Mr. E. X. Lelievre, who, though in his 82nd year, still rides about his property. Mrs. Breitmeyer's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Brown, came out to Wellington in IS 10 by the ship Bengal Merchant, and their son Peter was the first white child born at the Hutt. They moved to Akaroa in 1842, the year in which Mrs. Breitmeyer was born. She has lived all her life on the Peninsula and is still in tftie enjoyment of all her faculties.
