MUNICIPAL MOTOR CAMP
INCREASED POPULARITY The popularity of motor camping as a cheap and enjoyable way of spending the Christmas holidays is well indicated by the fact that over 150 motorists from all parts of the Dominion have already selected the Auckland municipal motor camp at Western Springs as their headquarters for tho next few days or weeks. Last year there were about 150 campers at Western Springs during the Christmas period, and this season it is expected that nearly 250 motorists will be at the camp before the New Year. Fifteen cars arrived yesterday, and 45 are now parked in various corners of the ground. Among the visitors are motorists from Christchurch, Wellington, Dunedin, Napier, New Plymouth, Dargaville and Hastings. One reason for the increase in the number of campers at Western Springs is the extra facilities that have now been provided for swimming and tennis. There is a large pool for tho use of campers alone, and two hard tennis courts. Children are catered for also at the camp, and can enjoy themselves by paddling in a special pool, a sand tray, or with swings.
