GARDEN PARTY AND FETE
FUNCTION AT EAST TAMAKI A garden party and fete in aid of the funds of the Kast Tamaki and Flat Bush Anglican Churches was hold at tho residence of Mrs. W. D. Grant, at Similes' Mountain, on Saturday afternoon. Tho weather was ideal and tho grounds looked very attractive in tho brilliant sunshine. The lawns, which were occupied by stalls and white canvas tents and shades, provided, a splendid setting amid the beautiful flower teds. There was a largo gathering present to enjoy an Excellent programmed folk dancing by children under tho direction of Miss Whiting, recitations by Miss Sydney McKerras and Highland and character dances by Miss Mary College. Piping accompaniments wore played by Mr. It. McLeod, of PapatoeKxcellent business was carried out at tho stalls, and a substantial sum will bo available from tho efforts. Many of tho guests inspected tho Maori relics in tho homestead nnd numerous others made ft tour of tho old historical district and inspected tho quaint old church on tho hillside. The ladies assisting in the function were: —Mrs. Guy, Miss Whiting, Miss Woods, Mrs. Dawson, Miss Scorgie, Mrs. Gillard, Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Baud, Mrs. A. Smales, Mrs. E. P. Cunnold, Mrs. Baverstock, Miss Cunnold, Miss Matthews, Miss Pam Smalcs, Mrs. Langdon and Miss Langdon. Valuable aid was also given by Messrs. A. Baird, Wright and Dawson and Master Keith Grant.
