ELIMINATING CROSSING
MASSEY ROAD, MANGERE OVERBRIDGE SUGGESTED A statement that as the Massey Road level crossing at Mangere was not on a main_ highway it was not included in the - Railways Board's programme was mado in a letter from, Mr. G. H. Mackley, general manager of railways, which was received at a meeting of the Manukau County Council yesterday. The letter was in reply to previous correspondence from the council asking whether any steps were to be taken - with regard to this crossing. The letter stated that the board had, in conjunction with the Main Highways Board and the Unemployment Board, drawn up a programme for the elimination of crossings. The cost of a suggested overbridge would be approximately £13,500.
It was decided to call a conference of representatives of the' Railways Department, the Otahuhu Borough Council and the Manukau County Council to consider the matter.
