RIFLE SHOOTING
MILITARY MEETING . DHATFIELD CHAMPION CADET MACHINE-GUN COMPETITIONS The first half of the programme of the Auckland military rifle meeting was . j completed at Penrose on Saturday in good time. Cadet matches with both • ;;i .22 and .303 rifles were fired at 25yds. in the morning, the afternoon being taken up with machine-gun competi- • tions. The weather was fine, but a high wind from the left upset calculations to a certain extent, especially in the afternoon. Entries showed a slight increase over those of last year, and , taken right through the standard of marksmanship proved very satisfactory. Cadet I). Chatfield won the cadet championship by two points from Cadet baragwanath. The machine-gun matches were well distributed among » the units which took part, but all were won by the Auckland Regiment".
