CONDITIONS FOR FISHING
THE TONGARIRO RIVER COLD WEATHER EXPERIENCED [bt TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] TURANGI. Friday Although unfavourable weather has been experienced here since the opening of the fishing season a week ago, the Tongariro River is in fairly good fishing order. Among the visitors were Commander B. C. B. Brooke and Mr. C. A. Whitney, of Auckland, both of whom left this morning after spending a week fishing. Both sportsmen had fair luck, averaging about four fish a day. The weather to-night shows sakns of improving, and it seems likely tnat a fine week-end • will be experienced. Several parties of anglers are expected to arrive from various parts of the country to-morrow. Temporatures are exceptionally low for this time of the year, and there was a very light fall of snow this afternoon about 20 miles from Turangi on the Turangi-National Park Road.
