DEATH OF STALLION
APPELLANT'S FATE POSSIBILITY OF POISONING!' .. [nr TKLEOKAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] .T , WHANGAREI, Friday The death occurred this week of thoroughbred stallion Appellant, owned by Mr. E. K. Plaisted, of Whangarei/ Lady Appellant, a daughter of the horse, won the County Handicap at the Whangarei Racing Club's Spring Meeting yesterday. Mr. Plaisted is UJjk able to explain the cause of the sjaj* lion's death, which he thinks was dui to poison, accidentally or intentionally administered. Appellant was by Westcourt —Wallaroi Lass, and was Australian-bred. He was bought as a yearling for 500gnsi by Mr. E. W. Alison, of but, owing to strangles, his racing dav» were shortened. He was bought by Mr. Plaisted in 1931 and has since been greatly sought as a sire. Mr. Plaisted estimates his loss at £500.'
