FATAL EXPLOSION

METHYLATED SPIRITS CAN BOY ENVELOPED IN FLAMES [BV TELEGRAPH —PBES3 ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Friday The accidental explosion of a can of methylated spirits used in priming a blow lamp was responsible for the death of a boy, William Henry Bryant, an employee in the Wellington City Corporation's electricity department, according to the verdict given by the coroner at the inquest held to-day Alexander Fratier, acting-foreman in the winding branch of the electricity department, said he instructed Bryant to light a blow lamp. A few minutes later he heard an explosion and Haw the bov jying on the Uoor enveloped in flames.

James rtichard Houston, another, employee, said he saw the explosion, but could not be sure if the lamp had been previously lit or not. He had heard Eraser warn the boy about the use of methylated spirits ,
