Telegraphing last evening our Christchurch correspondent stated that the weather yesterday was very wintry, with a southerly wind blowing off snowclad ranges,, a most unusual occurrence for this time of year. There had been light rain and the forecast was for dull and cold but improving weather. The track had taken all tho rain that had fallen and it would not he at all heavy, but the times would not bo as fast as in most previous years.
