AFFAIRS OF A MANNEQUIN
It was unfortunate that Elizabeth Harmon, fresh from the strict lifo of college, and eager for life, should have fallen in love with tho handsome, ne'er-do-well Gerald Bruton, an unscrupulous swindler already wanted by tho polico. A run-awav marriage at 'Gretna Green brings its inovitablo regrets as Bruton is arrested as 110 attempts to leave tho country. Fortunately, with his usual disregard for convention, tho marriage was a bigamous one and Elizabeth finds herself freo once more. While she has attained considerable famo as a mannequin, and although her ardent admirer, Jimmy Rudolph, a struggling architect, proves somewhat difficult at times, tho course of truo love eventually runs smoothly. Such, briefly, is tho theme of a very readablo novel, by May Christie, who has made a light but pleasant story out of a few well drawn characters in her latest book, " Luxury Model."
