DAYLIGHT ROBBERY

An armed robber secured £4BO in a raid on a branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland, in Edinburgh, recently. The branch is at the junction of the main Edinburgh-Glasgow Road and Saughtonhall Drive, in the Roseburn district. Shortly before the premises closed a man entered and, producing a revolver, mado the assistant teller, who was walking to the front door, return behind the counter and stand by the teller. Keeping both men covered, with the revolver, the visitor ordered the teller to "give us all you have got I" After collecting £4BO, moat of which was in notes of small denomination, the raider ran across tho road to a car and was driven away. This was the second daylight robbery in Edinburgh in a week. A few days previously £4OOO worth of jewellery was taken from a car outside an hotel.
