ROTORUA INTERESTS
Mrs. A. Hutchings and Mrs. H. Bertram were joint hostesses at the former's home in Ranolf Street this week at a farewell party tendered by members of the literary circle of the Rotorua Women's Club to Mrs. «T. Mackereth, who is shortly leaving Rotorua to reside in Matamato. During the afternoon a one-act play was read by members of the circle, those taking part being Mesdames Mackeretn, Hutchings, Shirley and Langguth, and the Misses Mactier, G. Dillon, G. la Trobe pill and J. Bertram. The guest of honour was the recipient of a bouquet of tulips and lilies of the valley, which was presented to her by Mrs. Bertram. To receive their guests Mrs. Hutchings wore a frock of black and rose patterned taffeta. Mrs. Bertram was in delphinium blue crepe de chine. A novelty competition was won by Mrs. D. M. Ford. Among those present were: —Mesdames H. Langguth, H. H. Davis, E. L. Barker, D. M. Ford, 0. Shirley and W. S. Wallis and the Misses M. Mactier, J. Pearce, G. Dillon, J. Bertram, G. la Trobe Hill and Hay. For their daughter Betty, Mr. and Mrs. T. Johnstone gave a dinner party and dance this week at Grande Vue. The tables, which had been decorated in flame and green, looked effective under a subdued lighting effect created bv tiny lampshades, and the gay atmosphere was further enhanced by paper hats, crackers and novelty bonbons. To receive the guests Mrs. Johnstone wore a frock of ebony shadow lace and georgette, and thpir daughter Betty was in black chiffon velvet _ with a cerise embossed coatee. After dinner the guests adjourned to the ballroom, where dancing, interspersed with items, was enjoyed. Those present included: — Mr. and "Mrs. J. Bonnington, Mr. and Mrs. R. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. McKenna, Mr. and Mrs. B. Campbell, Mrs. P. Harron, and the Misses C. Sharpe, 0. Louden, A. McKenzie, J. Tucker, M. Meredith, D. and N. Harron, I. Rika, J. Winslade, M. Budd, M. Ford, S. Marcroft and P. Galbraith. Mrs. Mnrray Miller, of Wellington, is the guest of Miss K. Constant, Hinemoa House.
Mrs. A. Dixon, Elizabeth Street, is staying with her sister, Mrs. Cossey, of Papatoetoe. Miss A. Mander, of Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. F. Doidge.
