Mr. L. Alderton returned from Well/ ington yesterday. Sir Stephen Allen returned from the South yesterday morning. Mr. B. L. Dajlard, under-secretary for justice, arrived from the south yesterday and is at the Grand Hotel, Mr. P. L. Halsted, of Dunedin, managing director of the D.1.C., will leave for England by the Akaroa this morning. Mr. D. Lake, of Sydney, chief sales manager for Australia and New Zealand of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayor, loft by the Wanganella yesterdav for Australia after a business visit to the Dominion. Mr. W. 0. Williams, of Hawera, has been elected president of the South 'l'aranaki Automobile Association. Mr. J. H. Edmundson lias been re-elected president of the Hawke's Bay Association.
