CRIPPLED CHILDREN
EFFORT TO RAISE MONEY OVER £15,000 REQUIRED To assist in raising funds for the endowment of tho Crippled Children's Home at Takapuna, the council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce decided at its meeting held yesterday morning to set up a sub-committee. "Over £15,000 is still required," said tho chairman, Mr. Gainor Jackson. "The ex-Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, launched the original appeal for funds, but the response was not as good as had been expected and only £7500 out of a required sum of £25,000 was received. The Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, has decided to resuscitate the appeal, and about £15,000 is still required." Mr. Jackson said that ho had been asked by Mr. Ernest Davis to convene meetings of tho business community to raise funds. It would be necessary to make a united effort and the wholehearted support of all business men was required. It was not anticipated, however, that any move would bo made to raise the money until after the elections.
