OHINEMUTU DRAINAGE
PROGRESS WITH NEW SCHEME COMPLETION NOW IN SIGHT [by telegraph —OWN correspondent] ROTORUA, Thursday After less than six months' work, the completion of the Ohinemutu sewerage scheme is now in sight and the system should bo in operation within the noxt two months. Tho sinking of tho second pumping station, which was attended with considerable difficulty on account of the inrush of water from an underground stream, has been successfully accomplished, and this station is now being connected up by pipeline with tho other portions of the system and later also with tho Tourist Department's pumping station. It is anticipated that advice of the arrival of tho machinery for tho two pumping stations will bo received within a few days and the installation of this will occupy probably two weeks. It is understood that the borough engineer, Mr. F. Bunyard, is faced with some difficulty in regard to house connections owing to the possibility of tho Government deciding to rebuild tho Ohinemutu Pa. If this scheme is proceeded with it is likely that any connections to existing Maori houses will be of a temporary nature only.
