LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

The monthly meeting of the Ponsonby branch of tho League of Mothers was ' held in tho grounds of Mrs. S. 0. English, Hamilton Road, Herne Bay, on Wednesday, Mrs. English presiding over an attendance of about 200 members and friends. Mrs. Whyte, provincial secretary, gave a talk on what the league stood for. Mrs. Fleming, magazine secretary, also spoke. An enjoyable programme of vocal, instrumental and elocutionary items was rendered. An orchestra arranged by Miss 'F. Cooke and comprising Mesdamcs Bridgens and Bollard and the Misses Peak, Fenton and Buchan, gave selections. Vocnl solos by Mrs. de Berg and Mrs. le Petit and elocutionary items by Miss Court were much appreciated. Competitions were won by Mrs. Tngham and Mrs. McPherson. Mrs. Shaw gave the thought for the month. Afternoon tea brought the gathering to a close.
