STOCK SALES
WESTFIELD QUOTATIONS GOOD HEIFERS IN DEMAND LATE RATES MAINTAINED Increased yardings of dairy and store cattle were forward at the Westfield weekly stock sale yesterday. Buyers were operating moro freely than in recent weeks and the offering of a larger percentage of good quality cows and heifers in the dairy section stimulated sales. Some fine quality Jersey nnd Shorthorn heifers were penned and both breeds sold readily. The best realisation was for a finely-conditioned Shorthorn, which brought £6 2s 6d. The Jersey heifers realised up to £5 12s 6d. Cows of choice quality, close to profit and recently-calved, also sold well and realised up to £6 10s. With the improved weather conditions and more feed, the stock generally was in much better condition, and this was reflected in the upward trend in average values.
