*—— MR. W. C. ELLIS The death occurred yesterday after • short illness of Mr. William Christopher Ellis, a member of the Northcote Borough Council since 1927 and deputy*. ; | mayor this year. Mr. Ellis was born at 'M; . Mount Eden '64 years ago and was educated at the Grafton School. For 31 years he was associated with Mr. R. S. * t Reynolds in the business -of shipping/ provider in Little Queen Street, retiring 1 . j in 1925. Well known in yachting circles, « > .* ; he owned the launch Little Princess and the yachts Lorna and Scout r i formerly belonged to him. He was also associated withy the Northcote and '« Birkenhead Regatta Committee. He • ' was for many years secretary and treusurer of the Auckland Pigeon Flying , ! Club, of which ho was one of the founders. Ho is survived by Mrs. Ellis and one son and one daughter. There are fivo grandchildren. ■ -''Tt'vfflM MR. THOMAS H. JOHNSON [BY TELEGRAPH—OWN- CORRESPONDENT 3 KOHUKOEU, Thursday The death occurred at Raweno last i evening of Mr. Thomas Henry Johnson, aged 74, of Hokianga. Mr. Johnson was the oldest member of the Buffalo Lodge in New Zealand. He arrived in the Do- "J| minion in 1910 and had resided in Rawene for 20 years. He was a member :fe of the Raweno Town Board and took a keen interest in the development of tlio district. Ho is survived by his wife. MRS. HELEN GILLESPIE [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] 41 WHANGAREI, Thursday The death occurred yesterday at the residence of her daughter, in Wellington, of Mrs. Helen Gillespie, of Whangarei, aged 74. Her husband. Mr. W. %|| 11. Gillespie, died three months ago in Whangarei. Mrs. Gillespie was formerly Miss Helen Hurrell, of Christchurch, {' a member of a well-known pioneer family. With her husband she cam© i ■:'f| to Whangarei in 1912 and, after Mr. J !|| Gillespie's death, she went to Well- j ington to spend a holiday with her Kga daughter, Mrs. Eric Waters.
