CHANGEABLE AND SQUAII® STRONG SOUTHERLY WINDS The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by tlio Government meteorologist, were as follows: —Barometers still are rather low, but the depression is moving eastward and an anti-cyclono over the Tasman Sea is advancing toward the Dominion. The indications are for strong southerly to south-westerly winds of gale force in places but gradually moderating. Seas rough to high on the west coast of the North Island and south of Castlepoint, elsewhere rather rough to rough. In the eastern Tasman Sea, strong south-westerly winds, with rough 6oas, but wind and sea soon decreasing. The weather should be cold, changeable and squally generally, with passiug showers, hail on parts of the east coast and snow on some of the ranges. It should be mainly fair, however, in Westland, and conditions will improve in most districts soon. Sharp inlaud frosts are likely in the South Island.SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST, SHOWERY, BUT IMPROVING The Government meteorologist issued to the Hkjiald last evening the follow* ing special forecast for the Auckland Province: —South-westerly winds,, strong to gale force, but moderating gradually. The weather is likely to be cold and squally, with heavy showers, but slowly improving. Seas high on the west coast and rather rough to rough on the east coast.
