JUSTICES OF THE PEACE
CONFERENCE FUNCTIONS ELECTION OF OFFICERS Several remits for the Dominion conference were considered at the adjourned annual meeting of the Auckland Justices of the Peace Association, held last night, the president, Mr. V. A. Coyle, presiding. Considerable discussion ensued when the following remit was before the meeting:—"That all social functions in connection with the annual conference of the federation bo held over until after all conference business • is completed." The mover, Mr. M. Guthrie, pointed out that at a recent conference in Dunedin, the delegates only sat in the mornings from nine o'clock until noon, and .the conference lasted three days. Other members pointed out that the social side had to be considered. An amendment that all social functions between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. bo held over, was moved by Mr. J. B. Paterson, but both this and tho motion wore lost. Several remits were adopted and will bo forwarded to the annual federation conference to bo held in Wellington next March. The following officers wore elected:— President, Mr V. A. Coyle; vicepresidents, Mrs. N. M. Molcsworth, Messrs. 1). Donaldson and J. 13. Pater- 1 son; council, Mrs. M. M. Dreaver, M iss A. Bast-en, Messrs. A. I?osser, A. J. Stratford, G. Magee, J. \V. Bissett. Mrs. Molesworth is tno first lady vice-president to bo elected by the Auckland Association.
