BANK SHARES IN DEMAND (Received November G, 8.55 p.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 6 On the Sydney Stock Exchange today there was increased support for banking shares. British Tobacco and "brewery shares were firmly quoted, but gold concerns were quiet. This morning's sales included: — Bank of New South Wales, £33 7s 6d; Commercial Bank of Sydney, £18; Associated News, 24s 10 Jd; British Tobacco, New Zealand delivery, 40s 6d; Broken Hill Proprietary (first instalment paid), 29s 3d; Howard Smith, 19s.
