REUNION TOASTS

Sir, —"Inquirer" oomments on the absence of a toast in honour of the merchant service at U.S.A. reunions. I might mention that at a recent reunion, the first reunion of the Main Body NJS.E.F., of the six toasts honoured* that of the mercantile marine was enthusiastically received. Reference was made to the great work of the men who manned the transports; the officers and men of the mystery ships; those who ensured the safe transport by sea of food supplies; and the fishermen of England a.nd their trawlers. The toast was proposed by Colonel Sinel and, in the unavoidable absence of a representative of the merchant service, was responded to by A. B. Mossman, of the Waikato Mounteds. Digger.
