TROTTING NOTES

COUNTRY CIRCUIT ENDS MANY SUCCESSFUL SIRES BLUE MOUNTAIN KING LEADS BY ABAYDOS An interesting feature of the trotting results at Hamilton, Auckland and Thames is that 17 sires were represented on the winning list, Blue Mountain King was the most successful, his progeny annexing eight of the 38 races contested. He was bred in Australia, and so also were two other winning sires, Man o' War,. with three wins, and Auto Machine. Blue Mountain King's winners were Bonny Azure and ■ King's Play, each with three wins, King's Warrior and King's Guide. Bonny Azure performed brilliantly, winning in 3.25 3-5 off 3.38, 3.23 1-5 off 3.36, and 3.20 off 3.33. Her dam, Bonny Bingen, by Great Bingen, was very speedy, but raced only a eouplo of times before going to the stud. Bonny Azure has inherited speed from both sides of her pedigree and evidently a good deal of the stamina of her siro. King's Play won in 3.25 2-5 off 3 39 and 3.26 off 3.30, his fastest time being 3.25 for third off 3.33. He met Bonny Azure twice, at Hamilton, being defeated when in receipt of 12 yards, but successful when receiving 36 yards. The peculiar thing about the Hamilton form of the pair was that Bonny Azure received 24 yards for her win, while King's Play was given 36 yards in the same class and for a little smaller stake. Ho may have got tho extra penalty in view of his two seconds earlier in the season. Buz Buz, dam of King's Play, was also bred in Australia and represents the leading strains of Charming Bells and Springheel, fr<yn which maternal line sprang Walla Walla, Auburn Lad and other good pacers. Form ol King's Warrior King's Warrior had three races at two miles for a win and a second, while he fell in his third essay. He was going well at the time, but broke and appeared to partially choke himself, although he was soon all right again. At Hamilton he displayed fine staying ability and each day ran a shade \vorse than *1.31 off 4.41 and 4.40 respectively. Being from a mare who was got by the Prince Imperial horse Advance, who has a double strain of Berlin on the dam's side, King's Warrior promises to attain even higher rank. King's Guide, who is from Guiding Star, dam of First Flight, ran some fine races, and, although he succeeded in winning only once, ho was responsible for a gallant effort when just beaten at Epsom by Our McKinney. Rey de Oro was another successful sire, his winners being Gold Dredge (2), General Sarsfield (2) and Itockella. Gold Dredge won at two miles and in going 4.30 3-5 off 4.43 at Epsom directed attention to her future prospects in long-distance races. She has been a very serviceable pacer since being purchased by Mrs. C. McGregor, and, being only in her fifth year, should make further improvement. Gold Dredge has the speed of the Rey de Oro tribe, while through her El Carbine dam she has a double cross of McKinney, which is excellent staying blood. General Sarsfield, who is from' Lady Renetta, has not been long in. C. Moran's stable. He displayed fine speed in the saddle races at Hamilton ■ and had his, turn at Thames, where he won a doiible. Although ho does best at short distances, the Rey de Oro gelding should stay on better with more age. Rockella, also owned by Moran, won nicely at Hamilton, but, as he was giving, away a second to Start, ,it proved costly, and his 36 yards penalty in a mile and a-half proved too much for him at Thames. Rockella is very closely related to Linella, a Rey de Oro mare, who has won several useful races in the North Island. Bingen Successes

Throe wins by Young Rodney placed ! Nelson Bingen again in a useful position, while his full-blooded sons, Nelson Derby and Nelson Fame, were each represented by a winner, Willie Derby and Derby Fame respectively. Young Rodney's dam is a Great Audubon mare, so that the trotter is bred on the Bingen-Peter the Great cross. Man o' War's three wins were scored by War Paint, whose dam, May Tracy, was by Captain Tracy from Harold's Pride. Man o' War is by Peri Huon from Wilga, and has been a successful racehorse and sire. Ho won the Auckland Trotting Cup twice, and his son War Buoy is one of the chief fancies for the New Zealand Trotting Cup.. War Paint scored her successes at two miles and has inherited a good deal of the stamina of her sire. Travis Axworthy also had three winners, namely, Travis, Hot Point and Edna Worthy, while Frank Worthy, another Axworthy sire, registered "a similar performance through the agency of Proletarian, Cherrill and Kenworthy. Worthy Bond, also by Axworthy, sired Elissa, who recorded her first win in the Green Lane Handicap. Hot Point, who scored decisively in his first start, is beautifully bred, being from the American, mare Miss Spear, by Peter the Great from Widow Lola, a grand-daughter of George Wilkes. Hot Point made a deep impression and his next appearance will bo awaited with interest. Edna Worthy's Efforts Travis is from the well-bred mare Tot Poters, and he showed a pleasing return to form when ho won at Hamilton for his new owner, Mr. C. Trigg. Now that he is all rigbt again, Travis may race successfully later on at two miles. Edna Worthy, an Axworthy-Mc-Kinney combination, won for the second time this season at, Epsom, proving that, although she may not go particularly well on left-handed tracks, she is quite at home the Auckland way round. Although she is getting back to a more difficult mark, Edna Worthy should bo capable of winning more races. ' Cherrill is from Gwen Thorpe, dam of Elissa. Like the latter, sho scored her first success at tho Auckland meeting. She is a very speedy filly and when she settles down properly at tho barrier should win more races. Proletarian did not win out of his turn. He I ran good races for minor placings last season and should add to his record if well placed. Two victories by Captain Bolt placed Peterwah on the winning list, while. Tho Triumph registered two wins with Waskasu and Tryment. The latter is a very consistent mare who raced well in saddle. Other sires represented by a winner were Florizel, who sired Silver Watch, the latter being related to two Auckland Cup winners, Floranz and Steel Bell, Maxigen, sire of imported Supertax, Groat Audubon, sire of Audo Patch, Peter Chcnault, sire of Peter Junior, and Our Thorpe, sire of Our McKinney. THAMES CLUB TAXATION [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] THAMES, Tuesdny The Government bonefited to tho extent of £sll by tho Thames Trotting Club's meeting on Saturday. Mr. E. 0. Brownlee, the secretary, reports that tho following taxation has been paid:— Totalisator duty, £229; dividend duty, ; £250; stakes auty, £7; amusement tax, £25. • j
