CHAMPION GOLFERS
HORNABROOK BEATS HORTON * It is not often that a club championship final is of interest to golfers throughout New Zealand, but such was the case when tho final of the Masterton Club championship was decided recently. Tho finalists were J. P. Hornabrook, amateur champion of New Zealand, and T. H. Horton, an ex-champion, Hornabrook winning by 3 up and 2 over 36 holes. Tn addition to these two fine players two other members of the Masterton Club are H. S. Budd, who has a good record in tho Hawke's Bay district, and A. I), S. Duncan. In the final Hornabrook was 4 up at the end of the first round, but Horton recovered splendidly to reduce the deficit to one at the 24th hole. The position was unchanged' with five holes to play, but Hornabrook then took' the next two holes to win the championship for the third time. This was the seventh year in succession that this pair has met in the final, and RTorton still holds 'the advantage, although it appears likelv that his young; opponent will even matters if pupil and master should meet again.
