MARYLEBONE TEAM FIRST MATCH OF TOUR VISITORS SCORE 344 RUNS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (.Received November 2, 12.45 a.m.) PERTH, Nov. 1 The Marylebone Cricket Club's team opened its tour of Australia yesterday with a match against Western Australia. Although a smart shower delayed the opening of play tHe perfect wicket was not affected. 'Marylebone won the toss and had made 292 runs for seven wickets when stumps were drawn. Smith played a forceful all-round innings, and Mitchell-Innes gave a stylish display. The visitors to-day completed their innings for 344 runs. The local batsmen were extremely cautious against unimpressive bowling and play was featureless. They made 169 for six wickets.
