MYSTERY THEFT
Jewellery worth £IOOO was stolen recently from a bedroom at Garden House, Maidenhead, the residence of Mr. and Mrs. James Hawke, while the family were at lunch No one heard the thieves at work
There are a dog and two maids in tho house, and it is a mystery how the jeweller;# was stolen without anyone hearing the noise," Mrs. Hawke «aid. The thieves must have gone straight to the wardrobe, where the jewellery was kept. " The door was forced open, but no trace of the burglary wjts left. About £ls in notes was also taken. Tho jewellery included two diamond watches, one gold watch, a diamond brooch and a string of pearls."
