THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE f STEADY CONDITIONS RULE Conditions were steady in the investment market on tho Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Levels generally were a shade firmer, but some industrial issues chanced hands at lower prices. There was tmlv one sale in Government loans, tho 19 v 6 4 per cent stock being transferred unchanged at £lOl 12s 6(1. Offers for both 1955 issues rose - 2s 6d to £lO7 12s Gd. ' Banks showed an upward tendency and Reserves were traded Is higher at £6 with further inquiry at the same figure. Unions rose 6s over n week to change hands at £0 8s 6d, ivhilo two sales of New Zealands were made at 60s lOd, a rise of Id. Commercials were n shade firmer on sale at 10s Zealand Insurances wero placed at 63s 3d and 63s 4d, a full advance of 7d. In 16a n and agency, Farmers' Auctioneering (£5 paid) pained 6d to eell at 78s 6d. Traders' Finance (conwere done 1(1 better at 4s, while the preference issuo found a buyer Is 3d higher at 20s »3d. Offers for Mortgage Corporations were slightly firmer, but holders were weaker. Jsew Zealand Breweries lost 5d in dealing at 52s I<l, but Dominions wore ljcl stronger on sale at 15s 7id. An casing of 3d occurred in Broken ITills, which were done at 54s 9d. The new 5s paid issues was quoted for tho first time.' buyers offering 265, while seller:; asked 275. A sale was made in New Zealand Newspapers at 40s 9(1, unchanged, but later business was done at 40s 6d.

KAURI TIMBER COMPANY r INCREASE IN' DIVIDEND A dividend of 5 per cent, subject to audit, is recommended by the directors of tho Kauri Timber Company, itedi Melbourne, for the year ended August 131. ... , c o Tho company- paid a dividend or per cent last year and 2 per cent in 1933. There was no distribution in IWM and 1931, when losses totalling £30.4 were inourred. A profit of £10,821 was earned in 1933 and the distribution o 2 per cent was made possible by tn transfer of £15,000 from the dividend equalisation fund.
