EXCESSIVE SPEED
WARNING DISREGARDED
VAN-DRIVER FINED £5
Disregard of a warning by the main highways traffic inspector, Mr. T. C. Clissold, was alleged against F. V. Sergeant when he was prosecuted in the Papakura Police Court yesterday for driving at a dangerous speed. Defendant did not appear.
• It was stated that defendant was driving a motor-van northward along the Creat South Road on September 28, and he was stopped and warned at llunciman -about his speed. The inspector came up behind defendant's vehicle at the northern boundary of Papakura, and the speed of the van reached 61 miles an hour entering the Takanini straight. Further on, the speed, oi ths van uas 70 miles an hour, according to thu inspector. Mr. Clissold said defendant was recently fined at Otahuhu for da ngerous driving. Mr. F. H. Levient, S.M., imposed a fine of £5, and endorsed defendant's driving licence.
